The Struggle that shook the entire World.

"Today, Egypt is much less the Mother of the World than it is the mother of a slew of domestic issues and increasingly flagrant violations of human rights and civil liberties. A hypernationalist sentiment has blinded people to the realities of the country."  -  atlanticcouncil.org

Around 6 years ago, in 2013 a tragic event hit Egypt due to a coup d'etat over a democratically elected president of Egypt, Mohamed Morsi.

In the year prior to that, the Arab Spring sparked a truly intense spirit of awakening in most Arab countries .  Egypt was regarded as a successful revolution nation that eventually led to Mohamed Morsi to power, but that lasted for only one year.

The world may have forgotten the issue. It is remembered as a mere social justice issue, not realizing that the event has shaped a new discourse in the modern Arab society, at the same time transformed geopolitical scenario of that region.

3 months after the coup d'etat tragedy in August 2013, when Egypt was still in a state of emergency we travelled to the land.  We have thought that was risky yet the best possible time for us to get on-the-field information.

By all possible means we made it to as far as getting to the red hot center of what's important in the Egyptian people's lives today. The people , and anyone who embark on seeking the truth about the Morsi story would have to encounter tough conditions and fear of uncertain situations. But those conditions and limitations have inspired us to value freedom and dignity. It's a worth sharing experience.

What actually happened to Morsi during his exact one year in power ?

  • Witness his most challenging task of re-positioning the Egyptian Military's role in the country's political position.
  • Can the deep state be changed with only a drop of vote ? Yet plotting a conspiracy against him.
  • Was he overthrown because of his 'sharia' policy ?
  • Was it truly an uprising for a better MENA (Middle East & North Africa) or was it being used to serve a greater agenda ?
  • Was Morsi an instrument of the West seeking globalization of their economic order ?.

Witness the emergence of a new political order that transformed the economy, social, foreign policy, human rights, and shaping new landscape of the region. An untold discovery about what truly happened in Egypt from 2010 to 2013.

"MORSI" highlights how an organization struggles to uphold Islam as a dignified way to secure true democracy and human rights, how unity of Muslims shook an outcome that nobody could ever expect.

As times passes by, we see the Muslim world moving forward towards a more complex and challenging progress.

While we perceive this as an effort to spread lessons to be learned, it should also be a guide as to what action should be taken in dealing with tough times, oppressions and injustice as these are the factors that will potentially harm peace and stability. Let's examine the things we should engage to make progress in the course to make the world a better place for all.
